Call of Duty World at war

My experiences with COD WAW : In one word: Awesome! It has all the features of what CoD always consisted of. Graphics are good, the sound is just awesome, gameplay is good. As good as cod4, mainly because it's almost the same, only different time area. Perks is awesome as well. When you come along in the game and get yourself some experience points, you get perks, then you can create a custom class with your own favourite perks and guns, I just love those options to a game. Than the game modes. I'm very tired with the simple point shoot kill and make as many of em game modes, so I haven't played tdm and dm yet. I won't either as far as I'm concerned. Leaving the tdm and dm for what it is, I've taken a look at the rest that's left, and that's a lot. We have Sabotage, where it is your teams goal to defend or attack a certain target, but you first gotta find the bomb or shoot the enemy with the bomb and steal his. Another game mode that's very popular is Search and destroy. Kind of like Sabotage but only with a few tweaks here and there. Another game mode that I think rocks as well is War. Just one big massive war, you just have to play it yourself to check it out. We also have Headquarters, free for all, and some others. In short, the game is just awesome to play. I really love war shooters and this game just nailed it, big time. If you like war shooters, you gotta give this game a chance, and plz do so by playing more then 5 minutes and really give the game modes a chance to get to know you ;)

Good or bad? ^^

Now we're having two opinions, spikespiegel who isnt impressed at all, and bucky who seems to fell in love. :D

Good or bad

I am not saying that it's a bad game. It's just not "Call of Duty"-good. They have made a modern day shooter game and disguised it as a WWII shooter, by replacing the weapons with old versions. I differ alot between modern day and historic shooters. With Modern Day-shooters, the game is all about the gameplay. However, in Historic shooters, I find it much more important that they get the feeling of the game right. In my very subjective opinion, they failed miserably with CoD: WaW!

Headline

I was just searching for a headline ;), as you've probably read, I wrote that you are not very impressed, which is the truth I guess.

Agreed!

Well, its difficult for people to have played cod4 and then go back to bolt action rifles and old school guns without that feeling of "but if only they had a helicopter". I think COD:WaW is the perfect reuturn to what CoD should be, a WWII fps. Of course from the beta its going to be hard to get the "feel" of the game, from 3 small maps, however I think from the maps I saw they were good honest fun. It didnt lie about what it was, it was a first person shooter, set in WWII however on a different stage - not just the western front and africa! I will definately get the full version. On the different gameplayoptions, they work really well as bucky mentioned and finally add some variety to the old "shoot them till the counter gets to 100" style of fps. I think if you were disspointed with it you have to looka at your expectations. It was never going to be an upgraded engine, just a different (and better) time period and different area. And so far from what I played its done just what it said on the tin!

Exactly what Spike says

Exactly what Spike says. It just feels like CoD4 but then with WWII assets. Besides imho it doesn't even look that awesome either... It doesn't have the same iconic look as in my opinion CoD2 had. It seems that devs are becoming more and more obsessed with 20 shades of brown and 20 shades of grey.. Every recent game seems to be following the trend of more greys and browns.
