ARGH, stupid blog. I typed a whole lot of explanation and stuff and then somehow it managed to not post it... I am pissed here is my second try, albeit a lot shorter now
Alright made my 1000 point list, army shot below. It consists out of a formation of Sharku's warg riders, a legendary formation. A formation of Vrasku's Talons, another legendary formation. 2 Isengard Trolls. 1 Uruk-hai warrior formation. 1 Uruk-hai phalanx formation. Army shot below

Alright so what does this all mean? Well Vrasku's Talons are a crossbow formation. Crossbows are pretty nasty in War of the Ring since they do strength four hits, which means it can actually have a 1/6 chance of killing a formation with shields, other bowtypes can pretty much forget about killing anything with defence 7. Drawback is that they can not move and fire. However I plan to just put them on a hill and rain death from there. Because its a legendary formation, it has some special abilities as well which comes down to being able to get more shots off, or up a dice score etc. Next up is Sharku's warg riders, these are cavalry units. Cavalry strikes before infantry in close combat and when cavalry charges succesfully they will get 6 extra attacks per company in basecontact with the enemy. In other words, a whole world of pain if they charge an infantry block. And because this formation has Sharku in it, they also cause terror on the turn they have charged which means the enemy might just flee away or fight with a fight value of 0 which nets the cavalry even more attacks. A whole world of pain indeed.
Next up are the Isengard Trolls, these babies are classed as Monsters and rightfully so. They get to strike before cavalry and before infantry, now add some impressive strength and 3 attacks to that and you can be sure the Troll will be feared by your enemy. Trolls also work with the hard to kill rule, where an infantry model dies after 1 wound, cavalry models die when they take 2 wounds, trolls need to take 2 wounds and then the opponent has to roll on a hard to kill table to see what it does. On a 1 nothing happens, the troll just got tickled, on a 2-3 the troll takes 1 wound counter, on a 4-5 the troll takes 2 wound counters and on a 6 he dies. Now the interesting part is that, the next time you roll on that table you add the wound counters to your dice score, so if you rolled a 2 earlier the troll has 1 wound counter if you roll a 3 you add 1 to that and the troll takes another 2 wound counters. So the next time you roll on the table you add 3 to your dice score. This makes trolls quite resilient, and even worse some creatures of middle earth have a very hard to kill, or a rediculously hard to kill table to roll on (mumaks, dragons etc).
Alright onto the next formation, this is a formation of Uruk-hai warriors, with an impressive defence 7 and being led by the epic hero lurtz they are a force to be reckoned with. I will also add a banner to this unit which allows it to reroll its charge distance. Anyhow with lurtz being part of this unit, it means they can use some of his stats, like courage, fight value etc. This means that Lurtz basically upgrades the unit he is in, and has some special abilities he can use, like assasins shot which makes the targeted model only have resilience 1. Very nice when you have to kill a monster since you get to roll on the hard to kill table every time you do a wound instead of once out of 2 wounds. The unit is waiting for its bannercarrier, but I still have to buy it.
Last but not least are the Uruk-hai Phalanx. These guys don't have the same defence as their warrior brethren, but get to negate charge bonuses, so you can laugh and giggle at the enemy when his cavalry gets its deathwarrant. Too bad the pikemen don't get a charge bonus themselves either for charging, but they do get a bonus to their fightvalue which means more attacks against opponents that have lower fight values (thats plenty of opponents). This unit is still missing its captain, who works pretty much the same way as lurtz does, except he is a lot weaker and doesn't have special abilities he can call upon. Still he can make troops go at the double, doubling their movement and he can expend his might to modify dice rolls.
So thats my 1000 point list, as you might have noticed if you read my previous blog, the Uruk-hai scouts are absent from this list. My plan is to add them in when I grow to the 1500 point range. They got a special pathfinder rule which allows them to move through forests without it slowing them down. Here are some pics I took of me army, keep in mind I am shooting for tabletop quality and not OMGWTF INSANE quality. They look fine if you look at them from above the table :P
