I just checked the game releases for the remainder of 2008, and boy, I will be busy!
Not only did I yesterday get a mail from IO Interactive, telling me that I had been approved as gametester on some of their upcoming titles, I also started counting how many games that I "must have" come out this year.
Call of Duty: World at War is scheduled for release at November 11th. It will be good to finally get rid of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Don't get me wrong, it's one of the best games of '07, but it just never gave me the "Call of Duty" feeling. With World at War, CoD goes back to it's roots and relives WWII. This doesn't mean a cheap knockoff of CoD III. Graphics have been improved alot (just look at CoD4), the new CoD will furthermore take place in the Pacific Theatre, which means a good alternative to the other CoD games, which takes place in Europe. Finally, with CoD:WaW infinity ward has finally implemented a co-op mode, something they should have done already with CoD2. Finally, they have added the flamethrower. Just too bad that I can't use it on them krauts.... Japs will have to do, I guess!
Another game coming out is Red Alert 3. It has been much too long since Red Alert 2, and I will wait in anticipation to see if the game can lift above the many other RTS'es out there today. RA3 is set for release on October 27th.
On October 21st Farcry 2 will be released. I can only hope that Crytek will finally limit their games abit on aliens. Afterall, I don't know anyone that loves FarCry and Crysis for the fights against aliens, rather than the fight against an Earth military force.
Left 4 Dead is set for release on November 20th, and although it's a game that is made by Valve, I have my doubts on the gameplay. I will msot likely wait for a couple of weeks and see how the game is recieved.
Finally, a new game in the Prince of Persia is to be released on December 2nd. I used to play the first Prince of Persia on my old Amiga at home. I have seen my friends play alot of the other Prince of Persia games, and have loved every aspect of the game, I have just enver gotten around to getting a copy for myself. This will change, however, in December.
Unfortunately, Blizzard has set their newest expansion for World of Borecraft at November 13th. Why won't they just let it die?
