I used to own an original Playstation back in the days, before I even knew what a PC was. It was tons of fun, but when the PC came along, I stopped completely playing playstation. The reason for this were the games Counter Strike (1.1, yes I am that old) and later Soldier of Fortune II. The PC had opened my eyes to the FPS, something the Playstation could not offer.
I've been playing PC ever since, and I've always mocked the consoles games for some reason. That was up until december 2008 when I bought the game "LittleBigPlanet" for my brother as a christmas present. I watched some gameplay videos from it and was sold, I had to own this awesome game.
I've never really liked the X-Box or the crap-machines that Nintendo puts out, so that LBP was only for the Playstation 3 was no problem for me. When I made the descision to buy a Playstation 3, I already then started dreaming myself away to a planet of Ace Combat and Gran Turismo again, but to my dismay I discovered that the Playstation 3 did not take Playstation 2 discs, so I was torn between buying a Playstation 2 with Ace Combat and Gran Turismo or a Playstation 3 with LBP. I went for the latter, when I saw a press release from Sony stating that there will be a Gran Turismo coming out for the PS3 very late this year.
After playing a month on the PS3 and my old TV I wanted the added experience of HD quality. So I went out and bought a top-of-the-line 32" widescreen that cost me almost as much as my monster of a PC. I plugged the PS3 into the HDMI port of the TV and was mesmerised by the quality. Since I bought the FULL-HD tv I haven't played computer at all, it just doesn't measure up to the HD quality of the PS3 :-/
I have also ordered the HDTV package from Yousee, giving me National Geographic (my favourite channel of them all), Discovery, MTV (crap-channel), TV2 Movie and a few other channel in HD-quality. Once it arrives, only time will tell if my days of PC gaming are over!

Re: Me and my beloved PS3
5. March 2009 - 12:31 — [SpA]Nutty82ukYeah, I am also a hardcore console gamer. However I have not got round to getting the Ps3 yet (job etc) but one thing you cannot get from consoles is the great online-multiplayers like TF2, the online connection and ppl that play is just not as good. I only really play TF2 on the PC (and also Bioshock, which BTW is alot harder to master on the Ps3 (like all FPS's) than PC but it is very pretty) and love the community based aspect. For this console's and Pc's can be very much distinguished. But enjoy your Ps3, I may have one soon....but for now I'm on House of the Dead: Overkill on the Wii which is awesome and awaiting GTA: China Wars on the DS :)

6. March 2009 - 17:05 — [SpA]Dr. BrinkmannI own a ps3 for exactly 1 year now and after playing every now and then at the beginning and most time console exclusive games (Uncharted, Motorstorm/The Darkness etc.) the whole situation changed last years fall when games like LBP/Dead Space/Resistance 2 have been released and it turned out that i enjoy it so much more to play games on ps3 than on pc. On pc i pretty much only play tf2 and all the rest i play on ps3 cos for me it's way more entertaining/relaxing/comfortable to sit on my couch and play games on a huge HDTV and a brilliant surround sound system.
@Spike: there's already a Gran Turismo available, its called Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and is something like the "appetizer" for the real GT5 coming this year (hopefully), its practically the same but has just not the complexity of GT5 but it also costs less (around 20-30€), you should really check it out if you like GT/racing games. oh, and if you like ace combat check out tom clancy's HAWX which has been released yesterday
@Nutty: House of the Dead Overkill is one hell of an awesome rail shooter, i have it too and it's sooo much fun to invite a friend and blast your way through hordes of zombies
I'm gonna rip your motherf*cking balls of - Detective Washington :D

Re: Me and my beloved PS3
15. March 2009 - 10:14 — [SpA]MiguI've just read your blog, and I have to say that I enjoy playing on my PS3 a lot too. Basically I use my laptop only for tf2, because it's now becoming old as well...So I don't even bother trying new games. Here's where the console jumps in. I really like the games that come out for PS3 and I will be playing more of it as soon as I get back to my appartment in Germany, because I have Killzone2 and Street Fighter IV that need to be played. Fantastic games! Of course LBP is just awesome and a lot of fun. What I really enjoy as well, is the fact that the console can be used as a blu-ray player. Watching blu-ray movies on it is just excellent! Add to this some nice online gaming experiences (like Killzone2 for example) and you got yourself a really nice package! I really love it. Oh, tbh I wouldn't expect GT5 this year. Think it wil stilll take ages to come out... :P Nevertheless, Sony has a great Line-Up for the rest of the year, so we'll get plenty of nice games to play.
So, see you soon on the PS3 maybe! :)
