Gran Turismo 5: Prologue

I have been thinking about buying a Playstation 3 for ages. I know that the xbox has better performance and better game support. I don't care about that, because I will not buy a console to play new games; I will buy it to play all those games I used to play.

It feels like ages since I last played some of my favourite games through the times; Ridge Racer (IV+), Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil.
All these games were made for the playstation, and although some has gotten a revival on PC, these versions are always way below par when comparing them to their console versions.

Anyone who has played Gran Turismo knows how grand a game it is, and how much better it would perform on a LAN environment, for example, instead of the split screen modes you have to cope with on the console. Come on sony, wake up and smell the new world!

consoles!

I agree with you on that PS3 is a much better than the xbox due to the large amount of games I have from the earlier versions, and also cause they have a lot of good games comming out, some of which you mentioned here. Gran Turismo is by far my favorite driving game.. I have yet to find one that I find so entertaining as I did with the previous version, and I also considered buying the PS3 just for that game... Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil are also some fantastic games although I feel Resident Evil have lost some of it's way on the newest releases. I remember the old ones pretty good, there wasn't hordes of zombies and monsters everywhere, it wasn't a standard shoot-em-up game at that time, it was much more about finding clues, feeling the atmosphere, and get scared the shit out of when something actually happened... good thriller/action/adventure games doesn't need at many monsters as possible, the lack of it, with the right setting can be just as, if not much more effective to stimulate fear and a cool gamming feeling. something I think most new games lack as per today... hopefully when games reach the "peak" of graphics (the point where most people agree that graphics would be difficult to enchance) the game designers will go back to designing games which not only look good, but cares about story, and what they actually put into the game, besides a fancy graphics motor. anyway, I'm ranting on now.. it's been ages since I last sat down to play something on my console. mainly because the games for the console aren't as catching as they used to be, and I can't really put my finger to what it is... cause I know there's some pretty good games out there... they just don't feel...... right...

I agree with you on that PS3

PS3 & Console Gaming

Well I own a PS3 and I really can't complain about it. The game that made me buy one was Metal Gear Solid 4. Just a truly amazing game. You really should play it if you are a MGS fan!;) There are more awesome games to come. LittleBIGplanet next week and Guitar Hero World Tour are already on my list. Of course there are really more cool games, but I don't have time and money for that. And next year will be the year of Resident Evil 5, which looks absolutely stunning. Although I've only played Resident Evil 4, I have to agree with Mint, the game has evoled since this episode. Some people may like it, some not. Personally, I loved it. I am also really looking forward for GT5, although I do not have GT5:Prologue. Think online gaming can bring GT5 to a new level, but as you probably know from GT5:Prologue it's hard to tell...Unfortunately many players drive like idiots, trying to kick you oft the track etc. That's not what GT5 is meant for. I just don't agree with you Spikespiegel about the performance, the PS3 is supperior to the Xbox I think. The only "problem" is that nowadays there are so many multi-platform games, that it is hard for the two system to maintain their own identity. Sure you still have some exclusive titles (monstly developped by their own internal studios), but that number will decrease. Just an example ist Final Fantasy XIII... Well, I do not really have a problem with that as long as the games are good. But due to that the PS3 has more difficulties to show its power. What I do like about the PS3 is it's capability as a Blu-Ray player. I only have two BR-films for now, but I think I will start expanding as new films arrive! ;)
