How-To: Behave on the SpA Servers (a.k.a. Server Rules)

Introduction
SpecialAttack takes pride in being a community where fun and cooperation are celebrated. We don't accept any behaviour that might negatively affect other people's possibilities to have a good game on our servers.
Our servers are closely monitored by our members to ensure a fair and fun game is possible at all times. Every player that wears our [SpA] clantag is admin on our servers and can help you if you encounter any problems.
If you're in urgent need of an admin but none of them is playing at the time, don't hesitate to contact us through Steam Friends or IRC.

Use of third party software
This is an obvious one. ANY use of third party software that enhances gameplay is not allowed. This incudes, in particular, aimbot, wallhack, speedhack, etc.
Anyone found using third party software will recieve a permaban.

Nicknames
We don't want to tell people what to choose for a nickname, but we do have a few rules:
No Racial slur. No references to activities of extreme moral decay. This includes, IN PARTICULAR, references to sexual intercourse with underage persons.

Profanity/Racial comments
Profanity/Racial slur is not allowed, neither on the voicechat nor in the normal chat.

Voicecommunications
Everyone, no matter where they are from, is welcome on our servers. However, people are not interested in hearing others yap away in a language they don't understand. Therefore, only English is allowed in the voicechats. If anyone feels that they HAVE to speak, say Romanian, to eachother, please join a Teamspeak/Ventrilo channel.

Foreign languages are however allowed in the normal chat.

Spamming the voicecomms with useless information, usually in the form of jibberish or by playing audio clips, is not allowed. Violators will get silenced.

Unintended Gameplay
This is a gray area. Some servers allow it, ours doesn't. If it wasn't intended by the game developers to do what you are currently doing ingame, it's not allowed on our servers.

Things you are not allowed to do include, but are not limited to:

Dustbowl, Gold Rush
  • shooting through the yellow gates when they are closed, be it as a demoman or a pyro

Gravel Pit

  • getting access to the C roof as anything besides a demoman/soldier/scout
  • getting access to the roof of B as anything besides demoman or soldier
  • getting access to the ledges just around the BLU spawn (as RED) as anything except soldier/demoman/scout

Hydro

  • abusing your dispenser to get access to the roof over the indoor spawn.

Well

  • building on top of the trains

General guidelines for engineers

  • building sentry guns underground
  • skywalking
  • Using your dispenser to get access to areas outside the gameplay area
  • basically, if you have to use your buildings to get to a location, it's against the server rules. Valve has officially stated, that it was never intended for the engineer to be able to use his own buildings to get to places other classes can't get to. The fact that the engineer is blocked by his own buildings is meant to be a disadvantage for the engineer, so he can't escape enemy players by running through his own buildings, which they can't.

Other examples may be added at a later point.

Things that are not considered unintended gameplay, and are therefore allowed:

Turbine
  • using your dispenser to get access to the elevated area in the hallway leading to the intel room

Just remember that people try to have fun on our servers, so don't ruin it for them!
