SpA Minecraft UHC - July

Its that time again everyone. Our UHC (Ultra HardCore) tournament is back, and this time its better than ever!

What is UHC?
UHC is a gamemode made popular by the mindcrack community. It consists of players being randomly spawned around a large map leaving them to survive and battle it out to determine the winner. Everything is against you here, as your health does not regen naturally. The only way you can achieve this is by eating golden apples or drinking regeneration potions.

How to participate

Make sure you are in mumble by the starting time. You don't need to be able to talk, it just helps for us to know who is playing and communicate instructions easier.

When is it?

The UHC Event begins in roughtly 6 and a half hours. Check out the link for an actual countdown.

Gmod server update

Fresh from our Gmod team, an update!

Some server issues have been fixed, 1-2 maps removed and 4+ new maps added.

The big thing in this update is the map voting plugin. It works on round end in the gamemode Trouble in Terrorist Town and lets you choose between 8 randomly picked maps (The map with the most votes wins).

Here's a few more Gmod updates from our Gmod team.

  • Removed rarely played/bad maps and other unused content
  • Added 3 new maps
    • ttt_bb_teenroom_b2
    • ttt_trouble_in_terrorist_tower_v1
    • ttt_elevatorandstairs

Gmod server changes

Our Gmod team has applied some fixes and changes over the last month or so to our Gmod server.

Here are the update notes:

  • Added a few new maps
  • Added a new gamemode melonbomber
  • Added new sound plugin to the server. 
    • After testing, removed access to everything but the endround sound, this one is available for everyone (Please use responsible!)
  • Updated the sound plugin with help from dekar
    • !playvolume now sets the volume of the sound playing
    • !playurl now accepts optional second argument, the volume of the sound to play
    • Using !playurl without the volume defaults to 50%
  • Most likely a bunch of other stuff


Fistful of frags second server

We've launched a second FoF server. Initially we'll be using this server for testing purposes, so it can be a tad unstable at times.

Currently it's running the same configuration as the first server with just a few differences in the backend.

We've added the latest snapshots of metamod:source and sourcemod so we can administer the servers from ingame and add more features in the future such as proper mapvoting, spapoints, reserved slots, etc.

A few updates

A summery of a few updates we've applied.

  • Fixed VMware graphs for MrWhite no longer being updated by munin
  • Fixed VMware graphs for MrBlonde no longer being updated by munin
  • Added CPU and memory usage graphs for MrOrange to the server status page


Fistful of frags server

Last night a "new" free game was released on steam called "Fistfull of frags".

You can find more information on this game at the steam platform.

About the game:

Fistful of Frags born years ago as a FPS Wild West themed modification for Source engine. It has been completely renewed for its Steam release, paying special attention to combat mechanics. Please note that current build lacks certain features and maps from past versions, as we are hoping to continue the work once the community grows.



  • Classic death-match and up to 4 teams death-match: non stop, all around action 
  • Detailed dual wield system: double dynamic crosshair, weapon flip for extra accuracy options, drop or throw your handguns as projectile attack 
  • Advanced multiplayer bots for off-line practice 
  • Historical black gunpowder based weapons as Colt Peacemaker/Navy/Walker, S&W Schofield, Volcanic pistol, Deringer, Smith Carbine, Sharps rifle or Henry Rifle 
  • Customization options: choose primary/secondary weapons and special perks 
  • Skill based scoring system: the more skill required to accomplish an attack, the higher score is 
  • Source Engine 2013: community managed dedicated servers, LAN support, 3rd party level design and user customization allowed
To accomondate for the influx of new players we've launched a server ourselves. We're not sure if we're keeping this server (depends on the popularity of the game within our own community).

Red Orchestra 2 server change

A while back a new game mode was released for RO2 called "Search and destroy".

We've changed one of the servers to this mode, however, it turned out that no one really seems to be wanting to play that.... Therefor we've decided to revert the change and put it back in it's old config.

Server 3 is now back as a "Realism Territory mode" server.

Happy birthday to us, SpecialAttack 8 years old!

This day back in 2006 we've started a new gaming community called SpecialAttack, named after stoned times with our old member TiTi playing de_dust2.

A "special attack" is when you spawn as CT at de_dust2 in CS and scream down your mic "SPECIALATTACK" and everyone runs up the center ramp like a bunch of retards straight into the terrorist team (mind you, often with great success :-)  ).

Now 8 years later we don't host CS anymore, however, we'll still going strong!
